We have the longest freshwater coast line in the world and thousands of acres of state and national forests. There are also lots of sporting activities, art festivals, shopping destinations, etc.Ann Arbor and Saline are both lovely communities. Very middle class, good schools. Ann Arbor is your typical college town and Saline is its "bedroom community". They are, however, very suburban. If you go west a little there are more rural communities like Chelsea, Dexter, the Irish Hills area that are very nice also and still within driving distance of Ann Arbor and Saline. There are also many beautiful communities on the west side of the state near Lake Michigan. These include Grand Rapids, Holland and Saugatuck. Farther north along Lake Michigan is Traverse City, Glen Arbor and Petosky. Grayling is also "up north" and home to Hartwick Pines National Forest.
